Set your heroism up for recognition

To your colleagues, you’re a collaborator. To the world of science, you’re helping drive innovation. To us you’re a hero.

Cell Culture Heroes is the scientist recognition program where connections are made and researchers like you are brought into the spotlight and celebrated. No matter what your stage of career or learning might be, our goal is to elevate you and the science you are doing right now, every single day.

      Marice Alcantara, PhD

      Postdoctoral Fellow
City of Hope National Medical Center, CA, USA

Watch Gibco Cell Culture Hero, Marice Alcantara, PhD, present "Investigating immune mechanisms underlying resistance to immune checkpoint blockade in renal and bladder cancers." Dr. Alcantara will share how blood-based biomarkers in renal cancer patients, categorized as responders or non-responders to first-line nivolumab/ipilimumab immunotherapy, have provided insights into the role of myeloid cell transcription factors in immune resistance. She will discuss a novel strategy targeting these transcription factors in combination with ICB, which has shown improved responses, suggesting potential therapeutic advancements for genitourinary cancer therapy.
