T-2 mycotoxin is a toxic secondary metabolite produced by several species of fungi, including Fusarium sporotrichioides and Fusarium poae. These fungi can grow on a variety of crops, including wheat, barley, oats, and corn, and can produce T-2 mycotoxin under certain conditions. T-2 mycotoxin is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis and can cause a variety of toxic effects in animals, including vomiting, diarrhea, hemorrhaging, and immunosuppression. It is also a potential human carcinogen and has been linked to esophageal cancer in some populations.
