RBM29 (RNA binding motif protein 29), also known as ELMOD3 (ELMO domain-containing protein 3) or RBED1 (RNA-binding motif and ELMO domain-containing protein 1), is a 381 amino acid protein that contains one ELMO domain and exists as six alternatively spliced isoforms. The gene encoding RBM29 maps to human chromosome 2, which consists of 237 million bases, encodes over 1,400 genes and makes up approximately 8% of the human genome. A number of genetic diseases are linked to genes on chromosome 2 including Harlequin icthyosis, sitosterolemia and Alstrom syndrome.
