Fc receptor-like 1 (FCRL1) is a gene situated on chromosome 1q23, encoding a protein that is part of the Fc receptor-like family, which shares structural similarities with classical Fc receptors involved in immune responses. FCRL1 is predominantly expressed in B lymphocytes and is thought to play a role in the regulation of immune functions, particularly those associated with B cell development and differentiation. Although its precise biological function is not fully understood, it is believed to act as an immunomodulatory receptor that could influence B cell signaling pathways. The expression patterns of FCRL1 suggest possible involvement in autoimmune disorders and immune system modulation, potentially contributing to pathological conditions when dysregulated. Research into FCRL1 and other Fc receptor-like proteins continues to explore their contributions to immune homeostasis and potential as therapeutic targets in diseases involving B cell dysfunction.
