Detection of human GRSF1 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-GRSF1 antibody A305-136A (lot A305-136A-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. GRSF1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-GRSF1 antibody A305-137A. Target Information
G-rich sequence factor 1 (GRSF1) is a regulator of post-transcriptional mitochondrial gene expression. It required for assembly of the mitochondrial ribosome and for recruitment of mRNS and IncRNA. GRSF1 binds RNAs containing the 14 base G-rich element. It preferentially binds RNAs transcribed from three contiguous genes on the light strand of mtDNA, the ND6 mRNA, and the long non-coding RNAs for MT-CYB and MT-NDS - each of which contains multiple consensus binding sequences.
