Mucin 4X/Mucin 4Y (MUC4) is a gene target that codes for a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed in various epithelial tissues. MUC4 plays an important role in cellular adhesion, signaling, and protection of the epithelial surface. It is often overexpressed in various cancers, including pancreatic, ovarian, and breast cancers, and has been identified as a potential biomarker for these cancers. Targeting MUC4 has shown promise as a therapeutic strategy for cancer treatment.
