Easy Analysis of Ion AmpliSeq Transcriptome Data

Written by Angie Lackey | Published: 10.16.2015

Back in September 2014, we first talked about how the Ion AmpliSeq™ Transcriptome Solution would be an excellent way to transition from microarrays to next-generation sequencing. With a library preparation that is a straightforward reverse-transcription, followed by a highly-multiplexed PCR with hands-on time of about an hour, the Ion Proton ™ System and now the new Ion S5™ series systems can handle up to 8 samples per run, This entire process is one of the fastest and most cost-effective around for getting gene-level differential expression analysis. The multiplex PCR step is just like doing 20,802 real-time PCR assays in one tube, with an input of only 10 ng of RNA. You can see more genes with a small amount of your precious sample using Ion AmpliSeq Transcriptome and Ion Torrent sequencing.

And analysis of NGS data has never been easier, using Torrent Suite™ Software with the Ampliseq RNA plug-in. Watch this video to see how you can analyze your samples in less than 1 hour.

If you are considering a switch from microarrays or real-time PCR to NGS, this is an ideal way to make that transition: it is fast, it is easy, and the data is in an easy-to-use format that you can analyze, right on your own computer.
