It is used as solvent for oils and resins. Benzaldehyde is further used as a building block for a range of amino acids like phenylglycine, which is used as a side chain in various antibiotics. It is involved as a brightener in zinc electroplating processes, and as a food and fragrance additive. It is active intermediate for the manufacture of benzoic acid, odorants and flavoring chemicals.
