Zirconium dinitrate oxide hydrate is used as a precursor in the production of Pb(Zr_0.50Ti_0.50)O₃ ferroelectric thin films and silicaand alumina-doped nanocrystalline ceria/zirconia. It is also used to prepare cerium oxide/zirconium oxide mixed oxide catalyst supports.
