Ofloxacin can directly interact with pneumococcal autolysin (LytA) at its choline binding domain, thus inhibiting the ability of LytA to degrade the pneumococcal cell wall
Ofloxacin is racemic and its (S)-enantiomer is levofloxacin
Applications
Ofloxacin may be used in pharmacokinetic laboratory studies and high-throughput drug screens
The DNA and protein-binding capabilities of ofloxacin have been studied in the laboratory
