Description

2,4-Dihydroxybenzaldehyde is used in two-step synthesis of ethyl 3,5-dibromo-2,4-dihydroxycinnamate. It has a potent antioxidative and antibacterial activity.

Applications

Solubility
Soluble in water. Solubility in methanol is almost transparent. Easily soluble in alcohol, ethyl ether, chloroform, glacial acetic acid. Insoluble in benzene and easily decomposes under strong acid strong alkali.

Notes
Air sensitive. Store away from oxidizing agents and air. Keep the container tightly closed and place it in a cool, dry and well ventilated condition. Store under inert gas.
