General Description

• L-isoleucine is an essential amino acid that organisms are incapable of synthesizing. It must be ingested in the diet and can be found mainly in meats, fish, cheese, eggs, seeds, and nuts
• L-Isoleucine is an isomer of L-leucine. It is synthesized from threonine and is a branched-chain hydrophobic amino acid

Application

• L-isoleucine is used in several biological mechanisms, including assisting wound healing, detoxifying nitrogenous wastes, stimulating immune function, and promoting hormone secretion
• L-isoleucine shows antipsychotic activity
• It is important for hemoglobin formation and regulating blood sugar and energy levels
• L-isoleucine participates in protein synthesis by binding with transfer RNA (tRNA) in the cell cytoplasm
• This compound also plays an important role as a metabolite for several species, including Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Escherichia coli, plants, algae, and mice
• L-isoleucine can be used as an ingredient for the development of other essential biochemical components in the organism, some of which are used for energy production and stimulants in the upper brain
• It has been used as a supplement of maintenance media (DMEM/F-12) for the culture of primary hepatocytes
• It has been used in capillary feeder assay to determine the consumption of amino acids by Drosophila melanogaster
