3-Nitrophthalic acid can be used as starting reagent in the synthesis of modified 2-iodoxybenzoic acid derivatives. It may be used in the synthesis of brucinium 2-carboxy-6-nitrophthalate dihydrate (systematic name: 2,3-dimethoxy-10-oxostrychnidinium 2-carboxy-6-nitrophthalate dihydrate), via heating with brucine. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
