3-Thiophenecarboxylic acid has been used in the preparation of novel acetylene monomer, required for the synthesis of poly(2-methylbut-2-enyl thiophene-3-carboxylate) and oxazolines and oxazoles. It is also used as a lading compound for the development of a clinic useful D-amino acid inhibitor and have the potential to sever as active site proves to elucidate the structure-function relationships of D-amino acids.
