Canada balsam, is used in film forming and masking. It is also used as a mounting media for microscopy. It is also used in chemical, Pharmaceutical research, pharmaceutical intermediate and research. Canada Balsam is used in the preparation of slide mounts. A turpentine made of resin which is dissolved in essential oils.

Solubility
It is soluble in benzene, chloroform, xylene, ethyl acetate, ether, oil of cedar, and oil of turpentine. Insoluble in water.

Notes
Store in cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Air and moisture sensitive. Keep away from strong oxidizing agents.
