Eosin Yellowish noted to reduce the affinity of Mg2+-ATPase for ATP and increase the enzyme affinity for Mg2+ at concentrations of 10-50 M. At higher concentrations near 100 ?M the affinity for Mg2+-ATPase for the ion-activator has been shown to be reduced. This compound has also been reported to be a photosensitizer that works as a molecular photoelectrode via catalyzation of the visible-light-driven electron-transfer reaction. Eosin Y is also used to stain structures such as muscle, cytoplasm, and collagen. This agent also enhances fluorescent quenching abilities by forming a complex with polyvinulpyrrolidone.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
