Applications
Perylene is used as a fluorescent and a chemiluminescent agent in the cytochemistry of membranes. It serves as a blue-emitting dopant material in organic light emitting diodes. It finds application as an organic photoconductor.

Solubility
Soluble in chloroform, carbon disulfide and benzene. Slightly soluble in alcohol and ethyl ether. Insoluble in water.

Notes
Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
