Invitrogen
Highest antigen sequence indentity to the following orthologs: Mouse (90%), Rat (90%).
This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-59062. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
C11orf54, also known as Chromosome 11 Open Reading Frame 54, is an ester hydrolase highly conserved across various species. Located on chromosome 11, the gene is identified as a biomarker associated with renal cancers, although its precise biological function is not fully elucidated. Research has shown that C11orf54 plays a role in DNA repair mechanisms, particularly by blocking chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA). Silencing this gene reduces cellular proliferation and heightens DNA damage and apoptosis when cells are treated with cisplatin, a common chemotherapeutic agent. This suggests C11orf54's involvement in cancer pathology, particularly its potential impact on DNA repair pathways, thereby supporting cell survival post DNA damage.
