This recombinant protein control fragment may be used for blocking experiments with the corresponding antibody, PA5-62733. In IHC/ICC and WB experiments, we recommend a 100x molar excess of the protein fragment control based on the concentration and the molecular weight. Pre-incubate the antibody-protein control fragment mixture for 30 min at room temperature.
This gene encodes a protein that is an activator of the FAD-dependent enzyme D-amino acid oxidase, which degrades the gliotransmitter D-serine, a potent activator of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) type glutamate receptors. Polymorphisms in this gene have been implicated in susceptibility to schizophrenia and bipolar affective disorder, possibly due to decreased levels of D-serine and decreased NMDA receptor functioning. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
