Allgemeine Beschreibung
• Hydrocortison ist die synthetische Formulierung des natürlich vorkommenden Hormons Cortisol.
• Es ist als weißes kristallines Pulver erhältlich, das in Wasser, DMSO und Ethanol löslich ist.
• Es ist bei Raumtemperatur stabil, aber lichtempfindlich und reaktiv, wenn starke Oxidationsmittel vorhanden sind.
Anwendungen
• Hydrocortison wirkt als Agonist zu Glukocorticoidrezeptoren und unterdrückt dadurch die entzündliche Reaktion des Immunsystems.
• Seine Verabreichung induziert Gluconeogenese und erhöht so den endogenen Blutzuckerspiegel.
• Untersuchungen zeigen eine Rolle für Hydrocortison im Stoffwechsel von Fett, Protein und Kohlenhydraten.
