Gibco VP-SFM AGT Medium is a flexible-format medium that is equivalent to VP-SFM with the addition of Advanced Granulation Technology for simplified preparation. VP-SFM is a serum-free, animal-origin-free culture medium designed for growth of VERO cells and virus production. It is also suitable for the growth of COS-7, MDCK, BHK-21, and Hep2 cells and for recombinant protein production.

Features of VP-SFM AGT Medium include:

  • Serum-free, animal-origin-free, ultra-low protein formulation
  • Easy adaptation for many popular cell lines
  • Scalability in flasks, cell factories, and bioreactors with AGT

Serum-free, animal-origin-free, ultra-low protein formulation

VP SFM is formulated with an ultra-low protein concentration (< 5 μg/mL) for easier purification of recombinant proteins.

Easy adaptation for many popular cell lines

VP-SFM was designed for growth of VERO cells.  But it has also been used successfully to grow other cell lines (COS-7, MDCK, BHK-21, and Hep2) and for recombinant protein production, allowing the use of a single medium for multiple cell lines. VP-SFM is formulated without L-glutamine for greater stability and extended shelf life. Simply add L-glutamine or Glutamax supplement as needed.

cGMP manufacturing and quality system

VP-SFM is manufactured in a cGMP-compliant facility. The facility is registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer and is certified to ISO 13485 standards.

Scalability with Advanced Granulation Technology

Advanced Granulation Technology (AGT) helps simplify medium preparation at large scale with fast rehydration, a just-add-water protocol, and low dust generation, creating less pressure build-up during sterile filtration.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

What is AGT?

Granulated cell culture media is an easy-to-use, granular form of dry media that is produced by applying fluid bed granulation technology to cell culture nutrient media manufacturing. The patented process allows production of complete formulations of a variety of serum-free, protein-free, and chemically defined media in a dry format.

AGT offers the benefits of liquid media without the cost, storage, and transportation issues. It is a complete medium that is pH and osmolality pre-adjusted. The granules dissolve instantly for faster media preparation time than conventional dry powder media. AGT media can therefore help reduce total cycle costs, decreasing time involved in raw material planning, procurement, and testing as well as media preparation. These benefits are all realized while maintaining comparable cell growth to liquid media.
