Description:
Meningococcus Agglutinating Sera
Organism Group:
Group Y
Serologically identify Neisseria meningitidis Groups A, C, D, X, Y, Z and W135 for epidemiological and diagnostic purposes with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Meningococcus Agglutinating Sera.

Use Meningococcus Agglutinating Sera for presumptive identification of Neisseria meningitidis grown on culture media.

  • Simple, easy-to-use tests
  • Identifies major groups of Neisseria meningitidis serotypes
  • Provides accurate, reliable and rapid results
  • Serological tests are based on the fact that antibodies in serum, produced in response to exposure to bacterial antigens, will agglutinate with bacteria carrying homologous antigens.

Serological tests are intended for screening purposes and should augment, not replace, culture procedures.

The monovalent meningococcus agglutinating sera are suitable for use in slide agglutination tests. An alternative method of typing, counter immunoelectroophoresis is also described in literature1,2,3,4. The polyvalent agglutinating sera are for slide use only.
