General Description
Paclitaxel is a naturally ocurring compound originally isolated from the tree T. brevifolia
Paclitaxel binds tubulin and stabilizes microtubule formation, preventing disassembly
Paclitaxel is used as a drug to arrest cells at the mitotic checkpoint and block cell cycle progression, thus inducing death of cancer cells
Applications
Paclitaxel can be used in preclinical laboratory research on diseases such as cancer, heart disease, inflammatory disorders, and hepatic fibrosis
Paclitaxel can be used as a tool in cell biology to study mitotic checkpoint arrest conditions and downstream signaling cascades
