4-Phenylazophenol is used to varnish, grease, paraffin wax, resin, soap kind of coloring. It is used in printing/solvent based writing inks. It is used for providing transparent metallic effects like gold imitation provided on metalized polyester films.

Solubility
Soluble in acetone, ethanol, benzene and ether. Insoluble in water.
