n-Propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is used as antimicrobial preservatives in pharmaceuticals, foods, cosmetics and shampoos. It is widely used as preservatives in personal care products like creams, lotions and bath products. Further, it is used as a food additive. Its derivative, sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate is used as an anti-fungal preservation agent.
