Caffeine has inhibitory action against lung and colon tumorigenses and virus induction.Caffeine is used to treat and prevent bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature infants. It is also used for the treatment of apnea of prematurity and orthostatic hypotension. It is widely used as an additive in food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and beverages. It confers a protective effect against some diseases including Parkinson's disease and certain types of cancer.

Solubility
Soluble in pyrrole, tetrahydrofuran+ water mixture and ethyl acetate. Slightly soluble in water and ethanol.
