Description générale
• L’ouabaïne octahydratée est une poudre hydrosoluble et sensible à la lumière stable à température ambiante
• C’est un glycoside composé de rhamnose et d’ouabagénine, et qui est dérivé des graines mûres de Strophanthus gratus et de l’écorce d’Acokanthera ouabaio
Applications
• L’ouabaïne octahydratée agit en liant la pompe ATPase Na+ / K+, perturbant ainsi sa fonction et conduisant à une augmentation du Na+ intracellulaire.
•L’action inhibitrice de l’ouabaïne octahydratée sur la pompe Na+ / K+ dans les cellules cardiaques en fait un agent cardioactif pharmaceutique
• L’ouabaïne octahydratée s’est également avérée induire des effets cytotoxiques par une voie de transduction du signal stéroïdien, dans les préparations de laboratoire
