L-Cysteine methyl ester modified glassy carbon powder (CysOMe-GC) has been shown to have potential for the removal of toxic heavy metal ions, such as copper(II), cadmium(II) and arsenic(III), from real water samples. Amorphous carbon may be used to develop zero temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) based systems. Glassy carbon has been used as a catalyst support for bimetallic Rh-ReOx. It may be used to enhance the accuracy of infrared (IR) surface temperature measurements on micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS).
