General Description
• Carbachol is an ammonium salt and a choline ester that acts on both muscarinic and nicotinic receptors
• Carbachol activates the sympathetic nervous system; it leads to intracellular increases in Ca2+ and activates associated signaling pathways
• Carbachol is not degraded by the cholinesterases
Application
• Carbachol can inhibit apoptotic cell death, making it useful for the study of cell survival and growth in laboratory settings
• Carbachol can be used for laboratory research of any biological pathway that depends on acetylcholine, including sleep cycles and motor control
