The Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ SMS-XY Automation for XRF permits continuous and unattended operation of Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ 9900 series X-ray Spectrometers. Increased automation brings increased analysis quality, lower analysis costs, a more sustainable analysis cadence with predictable and reproducible response times and a short payback period. The Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ OEM-XY automated sample loader allows connecting the Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ PERFORM'X or ARL™ 9900 series X-ray Spectrometers to fully automatic preparation machines. The prepared sample, usually a pressed pellet, is conveyed on a transport belt from the press to the spectrometer. Continuous and unattended operation is ensured through the supervision of an engineering company software. These systems are available for various types of applications in cement, metallurgy and mining.

The ARL SMS software is a unique product providing full automation of Thermo Scientific™ x-ray fluorescence spectrometers for unattended routine production control including sample preparation and analysis.
- Analysis dependability and quality
- Control samples are regularly analyzed and processed by statistical evaluation techniques (SPC) to detect eventual anomalies
- Can be connected online to the process and provide for automatic sample preparation
- Up to two sample transfer systems can be used to link the sample preparation system to the ARL SMS-XY
- Samples prepared outside the system can be registered and introduced any time
- For operation on the production shop floor, the system can also be delivered as a turnkey package with sample preparation in a Thermo Scientific™ ARL™ QuantoShelter cabin
- Easy integration of the automated ARL XRF spectrometer into your specific quality control and production process environment
- Sample registration can be done manually or online
