Description

L-Ascorbic acid sodium salt is used as an antioxidant, an acidity regulator and an antimicrobial in food stuffs. As a reductant, it is involved in the isolation of chloroplasts. It acts as a coenzyme for many hydroxylation reactions. It plays a vital role to eliminate chronic and acute infections. It finds applications as an additive in curing meat products such as ham and sausage meat. It is widely used as a nutritional supplement in agriculture and animal feed to promote the growth of young animals and prevent scurvy. It is also used as an intermediate in the manufacture of various organic chemicals.
