Accessory Reagents for PMT Serology

Detect antibodies to Pasturella multocida toxin (PMT) in serum or colostrum specimens from animals infected with toxigenic P. multocida or vaccinated with vaccines containing PMT or PMT analogues with Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Accessory Reagents for PMT Serology.

The primary purpose of the PMT ELISA is to demonstrate toxigenic strains of P. multocida in bacterial specimens obtained from pigs, since this is the essential criterion for the laboratory diagnosis of progressive atrophic rhinitis.^{1, 2} However, some laboratory situations require a method for determination of antibodies to PMT.³ This is especially the case in animal health surveillance systems based on screening of serum or colostrum specimens for antibodies to PMT. Furthermore, serological analysis is important when monitoring efficacy of vaccines for progressive atrophic rhinitis by determination of anti-PMT titres.

Use Thermo Scientific Oxoid Accessory Reagents for PMT Serology in conjunction with Thermo Scientific Oxoid Pasteurella multocida Toxin PMT Kit to detect antibodies to PMT from serum and colostrum specimens.

This procedure is independent of the animal source of the antibodies and, therefore, can be used for detection of anti-PMT antibodies in serum or colostrum from any animal species.
