Plasmid DNA

Plasmid DNA (pDNA) isolation, also known as plasmid purification, is the process of extracting and purifying pDNA from bacterial cells, allowing scientists to obtain a highly concentrated and pure form of the plasmid for further analysis and experimentation.

A maxiprep scale kit should be used when attempting to purify plasmid from an overnight bacterial culture with a volume between 100–500 mL. When choosing a plasmid maxiprep kit, scientists should prioritize high-quality plasmid DNA that is pure, intact, and free from contaminants.
