Help for installation
Recipe ISP, IVP, A2D (hxisp,a2d)

Amira-Avizo Software 2022.2 introduced a simplification in the management of image recipes. Please refer to the help section that corresponds to the version of Amira-Avizo Software you are using.

Amira-Avizo Software 2022.2 and later

How to open .a2d files: a2d files are descriptive files for the Amira-Avizo2D Software. a2d files are not supported by Amira-Avizo Software. The downloaded zip file must be copied and unzipped in a working directory. The files available in the zip file (images, hxisp, a2d) must be kept together in the same directory, but can be installed anywhere on the computer. A simple double click on the a2d file will start the Amira-Avizo2D Software, and load the images and the hxisp. The software will open directly in the Image Recipe Designer workroom, displaying the recipe steps.

How to load .hxisp in Amira-Avizo2D Software: hxisp are descriptive files for the actual recipe. If the a2d file is not used, once images have been loaded from the file menu (Open Data), the hxisp can be loaded from the Recipe Processing step, in the Filename port. Once the hxisp is set in the Filename port, the recipe can be directly applied on the images, using the Apply button. To open the recipe for edition, go to the Image Recipe Designer workroom, load the recipe from the File menu or from the button in the Recipe panel, then select the input data from the Inputs panel.

How to load .hxisp in Amira-Avizo3D Software: hxisp are descriptive files for the actual recipe. Once images have been loaded from the file menu (Open Data), right click on the data and create an Image Recipe Player module. The hxisp can be loaded from the Filename port of the module. Once the hxisp is set in the Filename port, the recipe can be directly applied on the data, using the Apply button (provided that all the data necessary for the recipe to run have been specified in the Data Input ports). To open the recipe for edition, go to the Image Recipe Designer workroom, load the recipe from the File menu or from the button in the Recipe panel, then select the input data from the Inputs panel.

Notes about changes introduced by Amira-Avizo3D 2022.2 release:

To facilitate user's experience with image recipes creation, the Image Stack Processing (ISP) and Image Volume Processing (IVP) features have been merged into one feature: Image Recipe. The new workroom is now called Image Recipe Designer (previously ISP or IVP workrooms). The new module for executing a recipe on a dataset in the Project View is called Image Recipe Player (previously Image Stack Processing or Image Volume Processing).

Compatibility with prior versions:

Loading an Xtra project that has been created with a version prior to Amira-Avizo3D 2022.2 is supported. Depending on the module used to create the recipe, an Image Stack Processing or Image Volume Processing module will be created. Only the name of the module has been kept for project compatibility but the module is actually an Image Recipe Player module.

Amira-Avizo Software 2022.1 and prior

How to open .a2d files: .a2d files are descriptive files for the Amira-Avizo2D Software. a2d files are not supported by Amira-Avizo Software. How to load .hxisp in Amira-Avizo2D Software: .hxisp are descriptive files for the actual recipe. If the a2d file is not used, once images have been loaded from the file menu (Open Data), the hxisp can be loaded from the workflow processing step, in the filename port. Once the hxisp is set in the filename port, the recipe can be opened from the edit workflow button, or directly applied on the images, using the Apply button.

How to load .hxisp in Amira-Avizo Software: .hxisp are descriptive files for the actual recipe. .hxisp recipe files can be generated by the Image Stack Processing module or the Image Volume Processing module, and should be reloaded with the same module that has been used for its creation. If this is not the case, an error will be displayed in the module's Properties area. Once images have been loaded from the file menu (Open Data), right click on the data and create either an Image Stack Processing module or an Image Volume Processing module. The hxisp can be loaded from the filename port of the module. Once the hxisp is set in the filename port, the recipe can be opened from the edit workflow button, or directly applied on the data, using the Apply button.
