Use Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ PathoDx™ Respiratory Virus Panel (RVP) kit to perform direct immunofluorescence test for the qualitative detection of 7 common respiratory viruses (Respiratory Syncytial Virus [RSV], Influenza A, Influenza B, Parainfluenza viruses 1, 2, and 3, and Adenovirus) in prepared patient specimens following growth in cell culture. Viral respiratory diseases in children and adults cause significant morbidity and mortality, especially in young children and older adults. Respiratory specimens (nasopharyngeal aspirates or swabs) are tested for the presence of viral antigen.

The detection of common respiratory viruses is performed using acetone-fixed cells from positive cell culture or shell vial culture and are stained with the RVP Screening Reagent and the Negative Control Reagent. The PathoDx Respiratory Virus Panel kit consists of one screening reagent containing monoclonal antibodies to each respiratory virus and seven virus-specific monoclonal antibody reagents. All reagents contain monoclonal antibody labeled with fluorescein.

  • Ready-to-use – Prepared reagents
  • Easy-to-store – Store at 2-8°C
  • Easy to interpret
  • Respiratory Syncytial Virus – Fluorescence is cytoplasmic, punctated with small inclusions.
  • Influenza A and B – Fluorescence is nuclear, cytoplasmic, or both. Nuclear staining is uniformly bright, and cytoplasmic staining is often punctated with large inclusions
  • Parainfluenza 1, 2, 3 – Fluorescence is cytoplasmic, punctated with irregular inclusions.
  • Adenovirus – Fluorescence is nuclear, cytoplasmic, or both. Nuclear staining is uniformly bright, and cytoplasmic staining is often punctated.
  • Negative Cells – Uninfected cells will stain red due to the Evans blue counterstain in each staining reagent.

The kit contents the following reagents:

  1. RVP Screening Reagent (R62416) – 1 dropper bottle (white cap)
  2. RVP Negative Control Reagent (R62412) – 1 dropper bottle (red cap)
  3. RVP Control Slides (R62414) – 1 pack Control Slides
  4. RSV Reagent (R62411) – 1 dropper bottle (gray cap)
  5. Influenzae A Reagent (R62405) – 1 dropper bottle (blue cap)
  6. Influenzae B Reagent (R62406) – 1 dropper bottle (purple cap)
  7. Parainfluenzae 1 Reagent (R62408) – 1 dropper bottle (green cap)
  8. Parainfluenzae 2 Reagent (R62409) – 1 dropper bottle (orange cap)
  9. Parainfluenzae 3 Reagent (R62410) – 1 dropper bottle (white cap)
  10. Adenovirus Reagent (R62407) – 1 dropper bottle (yellow cap)
