General Information
• Nitrilotriacetic acid, trisodium salt, monohydrate is considered to be a nongenotoxic compound with carcinogenic activity
• This compound inhibits gap-junctional communication between Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts
Applications
• Nitrilotriacetic acid trisodium salt monohydrate is commonly used in laboratory experiments due to its capacity to induce the tumorigenic process
• It has been used in in vivo experiments as an inducer of bladder and kidney tumors in animal models
• It is used as a chelating agent, which forms coordination compounds with metal ions (chelates)
