Trypsin 1:250 is used in removing adherent cells from a culture surface. The concentration of trypsin necessary to dislodge cells from their substrate is dependent primarily on the cell type and the age of the culture. It has also been used for the re-suspension of cells during cell culture, in proteomics research for digestion of proteins and in various in-gel digestions. Additional applications include assessing crystallization by membrane-based techniques and in a study to determine that protein folding rates and yields can be limited by the presence of kinetic traps.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.

General Description
• Trypsin is found in the digestive system of vertebrates
• Trypsin is a serine protease that hydrolyzes the carboxyl end of amino acids lysine and arginine
• Trypsin is produced in the pancreas from trypsinogen and is released to downstream polypeptides in the small intestine
Application
• Trypsin can be used to resuspend adherent cells for harvesting in cell culture applications
