Identify & quantify immunoglobulin isotypes
Immunoglobulin (IgG, IgA, IgE, IgM) isotyping and quantitation are important screening and testing steps in rat and mouse monoclonal antibody development and production. Immune responses in ascites fluid must be evaluated and the immunoglobulin class and subclass identities of screened and isolated antibody-producing hybridomas must be determined.
Several different kinds of assay kits are available for antibody isotyping, depending on the needed scale, desired throughput, and available detection equipment. These include ELISA kits, multiplex assays for Luminex systems, rapid test cassettes, and microagglutination titer assays.
ELISA antibody isotyping kits
Invitrogen isotyping ELISA kits are a fast, sensitive and convenient method for quantitation of immunoglobulin isotypes during and after hybridoma development, to assess immune response. These ELISA provide an accurate quantitative result and enable testing of multiple samples at a time.

Dipstick-style rapid antibody isotyping kits
The Pro-Detect Rapid Antibody Isotyping Kit is a single-use, dipstick lateral flow kit for quick, easy determination of the immunoglobulin class, subclass, and light chain type of a mouse, human, or rat antibody. This antibody isotyping assay uses membrane-based strips coated with dye-bound conjugated antibodies that provide a visual, color readout of the monoclonal antibody isotype within ten minutes.
Cassette-style rapid antibody isotyping kits
Thermo Scientific Pierce rapid antibody isotyping kits are single-use, cassette-based kits for 5-minute lateral-flow assay determination of monoclonal antibody class and subclass identity. These antibody isotyping kits use cartridges that provide a color-readout of the monoclonal antibody isotype within five minutes after pipetting a small amount of diluted culture supernatant or ascites fluid sample into the sample well.
Easy-Titer antibody quantitation assay kits
Thermo Scientific Easy-Titer antibody assay kits include antibody-sensitized microspheres to measure the specific concentration of antibodies by an easy and rapid microagglutination technique using standard microplates and UV-Vis plate reader (spectrophotometer). The kits are specific for the target immunoglobulin and, unlike total protein assays, can specifically measure the concentration of target antibody in samples (e.g., serum, plasma, culture supernatant) that contain other proteins.
