Precast Agarose Gels |
E-Gel precast gels are bufferless agarose gels with electrodes embedded in the agarose matrix. Each precast agarose gel contains an ion generating system, a pH balancing system, and DNA stain packaged inside a transparent plastic cassette. It also contains two ion exchange matrices (IEMs) that are in contact with the gel and electrodes. The IEMs supply a continuous flow of ions throughout the precast gel resulting in a sustained electric field required for running the gel.
The E-gel precast agarose gels are available in multiple formats to suit your applications.
E-Gel SizeSelect II gels are double-comb, precast agarose gels designed for separation and recovery of DNA fragments.
Advantages of E-Gel SizeSelect II gels:
E-Gel CloneWell II gels are double-comb, precast agarose gels designed for separation and retrieval of DNA fragments of choice.
Advantages of E-Gel CloneWell II gels:
Exposure of your DNA sample to UV light during visualization may lead to DNA damage and reduced cloning efficiencies. Using E-Gel CloneWell II agarose gels with the E-Gel Power Snap System helps eliminate UV damage and can improve cloning efficiency compared to conventional methods. Results obtained using the TOPO TA Cloning Kit after E-Gel CloneWell II gel purification, compared to a conventional method, are shown in Figure 2.
E-Gel EX gels pre-stained with SYBR Gold DNA stain were developed for exceptional sensitivity and demonstrate up to 5-fold greater sensitivity than comparable gels containing ethidium bromide. These precast gels are available in various agarose concentration which allow resolution of DNA fragments from 50 bp to 5,000 bp. E-Gel EX gels are available in single and double comb formats.

E-Gel 48- and 96-well agarose gels are ideal for high-throughput electrophoresis and analysis of PCR products, plasmid preparations, and restriction digests. E-Gel 48 gels include two rows each containing 24 samples and two molecular weight marker wells with a 3.2 cm length. E-Gel 96 gels contain 96 sample lanes and eight marker lanes, staggered to provide a 1.6 cm run length with resolution between 100 bp and 10 kb. This staggered-well format is compatible with most robotic loading systems.

The E-Gel SizeSelect gels allow users to separate and recover DNA for short read fragment library construction in as little as 15 minutes. That's up to 10 times faster than using conventional gels, and purification kits. E-Gel SizeSelect gels are offered in a 2% agarose concentration and validated for the recovery of fragments in the 150–200 bp size range. Once the DNA is recovered, no additional purification step is required before proceeding to the next step in library construction. E-Gel SizeSelect system has been used successfully in these generation 2 library construction protocols:
Experience safer analysis without gels to pour, buffers to make, or chemical staining. Invitrogen E-Gel Precast Agarose Gels with SYBR Safe Gel Stain are designed for safer, more convenient DNA electrophoresis.
