A plate full of tubes containing lyophilized enzymes

Thermo Fisher Scientific offers new-generation enzymes in lyo-ready or lyophilization-compatible format. Lyophilization also known as freeze-drying is a process that involves removing the water content from a substance by freezing it and then rapidly evaporating the frozen water under reduced pressure. This technique helps to preserve perishable products while maintaining their structure and extending their shelf life. Enzymes in lyo-ready format are portable, room-temperature stable, and suitable for molecular assay development. Lyo-ready enzymes retain characteristics of conventional enzyme including reproducibility, sensitivity, and specificity required for diagnostic assays.

Benefits of lyo-ready enzymes

  • Flexible assay designs maximize the same functional enzyme performance with glycerol content below 0.1–0.5%
  • Compatibility with microfluidics solutions, such as point-of-care (POC) testing, single-cell analysis, and droplet-based techniques
  • High confidence in results with minimal risk of bacterial, human, or plasmid DNA contamination
  • Assurance of ISO 13485 quality
  • Lot-to-lot consistency

Lyo-ready enzymes: The solution for POC molecular diagnostics

Lyo-ready enzymes hold promise and potential for faster and accurate point of care diagnostics. According to an article published in Nature , these 'lyo-ready' enzymes can be used to build dried mixtures of PCR reagents that enable sample-to-answer assays. Thermo Fisher Scientific offers customized solutions for specific applications, including modified concentrations, volume, and packaging.

    FAQs

Enzymes in lyo-ready format are beneficial when portable, room-temperature stable assays are being developed. Lyo-ready enzymes retain all conventional enzyme characteristics like reproducibility, sensitivity, and specificity required for diagnostic assays.
We focus on supplying the raw materials for your assay development. All our enzymes come in liquid form compatible for lyophilization. We do not offer dried down enzymes nor lyophilization sevices.

The SuperScript IV RT-LAMP Master Mix is available for commercial use. It is optimized for best results in LAMP and RT-LAMP in glycerol format, lyo-ready mastermix is not available.

Nevertheless, we offer lyo-ready components of the master mix—the SSIV reverse transcriptase, Bst DNA polymerase, and RNaseOUT RNase inhibitor—as well as user manual for LAMP reaction setup. These components are available in a glycerol-free format and can be customized further upon request.
